Unieke expositie Visuele Poëzie in Tilburg
Van 9 tot en met 25 november 2012 vindt in Goretti aan het Wilhelminapark in Tilburg de unieke expositie Visuele Poëzie plaats. Tien visuele dichters exposeren hun werk, onder wie Tonnus Oosterhoff, ACG Vianen en Rozalie Hirs.
Deze tentoonstelling, die mede mogelijk wordt gemaakt door het BKKC, toont het werk van tien visuele dichters. Het gaat hierbij om reeds gevestigde namen, maar ook om aanstormend talent uit Nederland en Vlaanderen. De deelnemende dichters zijn: Renaat Ramon, SAGE, ACG Vianen, Helen White, Marieke Houwers, Nick J. Swarth, Ellen Vedder, Rossella Bargiacchi, Rozalie Hirs en Tonnus Oosterhoff.

Daarnaast zullen er tijdens de expositie interessante workshops en spannende performance avonden gegeven worden. Ook vindt via een interactieve installatie uitwisseling met het publiek op diverse locaties in de stad Tilburg plaats.

De Terechte Kronkel
‘De Terechte Kronkel’ heet het zaakje. Ik liep er toevallig langs op zoek maar een andere winkel aan de Amsterdamse Vijzelstraat . ‘Het kleinste tweedehandsboekwinkeltje ter wereld!’ riep een bord op het trottoir. Binnen zaten twee heren te discussiëren in een tamelijk duistere ruimte. Eén van hen bleek de eigenaar te zijn, Frans de Jong, en die vertelde dat hij hier maar tijdelijk zat.
Natuurlijk had de naam van zijn zaak te maken met het pseudoniem van Simon Carmiggelt. En natuurlijk had hij veel werk in voorraad van de grote Amsterdamse schrijver. Maar De Jong vond fotoboeken ook interessant en wilde zich meer gaan specialiseren in die categorie. Nou, hij is al op de goede weg, want ik vond een voor mij onbekend boekje van Spencer Tunick, de New Yorkse fotograaf die bekend werd door zijn foto’s van grote massa’s naakte mensen.
Of De Jongs ‘antiquariaatje’ echt het kleinste ter wereld is, waag ik te betwijfelen. Ik meen in Luik wel eens een tweedehandsboekenzaakje bezocht te hebben ter grootte van een ruime inloopkast. In elk geval bleek hier een trap te leiden naar een souterrain waar ook behoorlijk wat te snuffelen viel. Boven een boek van Toon Hermans zat een grote meisjespop te lachen om niets. Kronkel zou er misschien een mooi verhaal over hebben kunnen schrijven.

Na een vliegende start tijdens de Olympische Spelen in Londen opent Leonard&Jeroen het culturele seizoen in Luycks Gallery met een spectaculaire expositie. De kunstenaars onderwerpen het fenomeen ‘merk’ aan een kritisch onderzoek. Zij stellen zich de vraag wat de waarde en impact is van keurmerken, kleurmerken, waarmerken, beeldmerken, brandmerken en woordmerken. Om de zaak op scherp te stellen heeft het kunstenaarspaar zichzelf tot kunstmerk geproclameerd. Met een eigen beeldmerk. Om zich hiermee producten van uiteenlopende aard toe te eigenen. Producten die zij hebben gekozen en die door dat magische gebaar in waarde gestegen zijn. Zo stellen zij een brandend actuele kwestie aan de orde in een wereld waarin design en kunst meer dan ooit vereenzelvigd worden met de naam, de signatuur van de ontwerper of kunstenaar en diens betoverende aanraking.
De opening vindt plaats op vrijdag 31 augustus van 17.00-19.00 uur. Uw aanwezigheid hierbij wordt bijzonder op prijs gesteld.
De expositie is tm zaterdag 22 september te zien. Op zondag 2 september is Luycks Gallery in het kader van Kunstronde Tilburg van 13.00-17.00 geopend. De kunstenaars zijn die middag aanwezig om hun werk toe te lichten. Op zaterdag 8 september manifesteert Leonard&Jeroen zich ook elders in de stad in het kader van de Opening, het L’Avventura-openingsfeest van het nieuwe seizoen, in en rond de Willem II straat.

Robert Hughes, art critic of Time magazine and twice winner of the American College Art Association’s F. J. Mather Award for distinguished criticism, is author of The Shock of the New, and of Heaven and Hell in Western Art. He is also author of the acclaimed Nothing if Not Critical, a work on Frank Auerbach; Barcelona, and Culture of Complaint, essays on the fraying of America. Robert Hughes died in August 2012.

Little Birds are dining
Warily and well,
Hid in mossy cell:
Hid, I say, by waiters
Gorgeous in their gaiters –
I’ve a Tale to tell.

Justices with jam,
