De stervende Germanicus

Bij de schilderijen van Heinrich Füger en Nicolas Poussin

Omgeven door getrouwen sterft Germanicus.
Men rouwt reeds voor de laatste adem
zijn huidig lichaam rust geeft. Nog even

in het leven voelt hij zich daarom eenzamer
dan ooit, als Capreae in de zee. Hij denkt
aan sperwers over velden. Zijn ogen tekenen

wegen in de lucht die wij nooit volgen kunnen.
