Abram de Swaan in VPRO BOEKEN

Hij probeert in zijn nieuwste boekSwaan-Compartimenten-van-vernietiging- Compartimenten van vernietiging. Over genocidale regimes en hun daders tot een beter begrip te komen van het moderne kwaad: massamoord.

Abram de Swaan onderzoekt in zijn nieuwste boek de massale vernietigingscampagnes van de twintigste eeuw. In de afgelopen eeuw zijn keer op keer miljoenen mensen vermoord in campagnes van grootscheepse vernietiging, met de Holocaust als het absolute dieptepunt. Hoe zijn deze verschrikkingen te begrijpen?
