Bert Bevers gedicht: Van Heflin maait het gras

Van Heflin maait het gras

I’m just a patsy, hield Oswald zelfverzekerd vol, het
blauwe oog voor altijd dichtgeslagen. Vlak voor hij de
historie binnentuimelt is de teruggetrokken schutter

– zo willen reconstructies – bezoeker van een cinema
waar Cry of Battle met Van Heflin fletsjes draait.
Lee Harvey’s laatste film. Ziet hij iets? Officer J.D. Tippit

dood op straat, Jackie’s roze mantelpakje onder de
presidentenhersenen, en ergens in een zonbeschenen
tuin maait Heflin, bijna 53, helgroen gras. Uit radio galmt

moord. Ook C.S. Lewis sterft vandaag. En Aldous Huxley.
Knarsende deuren, schaduwpatronen, weesgegroetjes
van beton.
