Schrijver en dichter Gerrit Krol overleden

Gerrit Krol werd op 1 augustus 1934 in Groningen geboren. Hij schreef vanaf zijn indrukwekkende romandebuut (De rokken van Joy Scheepmaker, 1962) meer dan vijftig romans, verhalenbundels, novellen, dichtbundels en essays. In zijn laatste roman (Duivelskermis, 2007) beschreef hij op meesterlijke wijze de gevolgen van de ziekte van Parkinson. Gerit Krol ontving diverse prijzen, waaronder de Multatuliprijs en de Busken Huetprijs. Zijn oeuvre werd in 1986 bekroond met de Constantijn Huygensprijs en in 2001 met de P.C. Hooftprijs. In 2005 ontving hij een eredoctoraat aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
