In memoriam Ward Ruyslinck (1929โ€“2014)

In memoriam Ward Ruyslinck (1929โ€“2014) : De Vlaamse schrijver Ward Ruyslinck, pseudoniem van Raymond Charles Marie De Belser, overleed op 3 oktober 2014 in zijn woonplaats Meise in Vlaanderen. Hij leed al jaren aan de ziekte van Alzheimer.

In de jaren vijftig brak Ruyslinck schrijver door met de oorlogsromans: De ontaarde slapers en Wierook en tranen. Ward Ruyslinck was een veel gelezen schrijver, ook al omdat enkele van zijn boeken voorkwamen op de verplichte literatuurlijsten van vele middelbare scholen in Nederland en Vlaanderen.

In 1975 werd hij lid van de Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal- en Letterkunde, waarvan hij van 1987 tot 1995 voorzitter was.
