ACTRICE COX HABBEMA OVERLEDEN

coxhabbema_IMCox Habbema (1944 – 2016) is op 18 april 2016, in haar geboortestad Amsterdam, overleden.
Na haar opleiding aan de Toneelschool Amsterdam debuteerde Habbema in 1967 bij Toneelgroep Centrum. Habbema was zowel actrice als regisseuse. Ze speelde bijna twintig jaar lang bij toneelgroep: ‘Deutsches Theater’ in Oost-Berlijn. Verder speelde Habbema verschillende gastrollen in Duitse en Nederlandse films en televisieseries.
Na haar terugkeer in Nederland heeft de zeer idealistische actrice veel bestuurlijke functies in de kunstwereld vervuld. Van 1986 tot 1996 was Habbema directeur van de Amsterdamse Stadsschouwburg. Café Cox, in het gebouw van de schouwburg, is naar haar vernoemd.
Verder was ze o.a. televisiepresentator van een cultuurprogramma, voorzitter van de jury van een literaire prijs en voorzitter van de Federatie van Kunstenaarsverenigingen.
In 2002 verscheen haar autobiografie Mijn koffer in Berlijn.
