De veertiende editie van Winternachten draait om ‘Fake!’, met meer dan veertig programma’s rond het thema manipulatie en waarheid in literatuur, media en politiek.  Schrijvers, dichters en denkers gaan op zoek naar de laatste resten van waarheid en waarachtigheid, of de leugen?

Het festival opent in de Nieuwe Kerk met de Winternachtenlezing door de Somalische schrijver Nuruddin Farah. Daarmee start een vierdaags festival op vijf podia in en rond Theater aan het Spui in Den Haag.

Meer dan tachtig schrijvers, kunstenaars en musici uit de hele wereld treden op, zoals Amitav Ghosh, Alain de Botton, Connie Palmen, Namgyal Lhamo, Gerrit Komrij, Izaline Calister, Herman Koch, Naima el Bezaz, Kristien Hemmerechts, Nury Vittachi, Shrinivási, Nelleke Noordervliet, Perihan Magden en Margriet de Moor.
